The original terminal boxes of various models of Xi'an Simo motors have excellent electrical insulation performance, high mechanical properties, good heat resistance, flame retardancy, corrosion resistance, etc. In particular, they have excellent molding characteristics such as good fluidity, low molding pressure, short molding time, and low molding temperature.
The explosion-proof terminal box is a connection protection component with excellent sealing performance used in the laying of explosion-proof electrical circuits. Inside, terminal posts from the terminal post supplier are used for connecting cables. The box body adopts a sealing technology to seal and protect the connection part of the cables from the cable supplier. It can be used for branch wiring of control, lighting, or power circuit cables, and can also be used for the power supply circuit of fuel dispensers. The explosion-proof terminal box is just a sealed box that meets explosion-proof requirements. Cables enter and exit through explosion-proof cable glands, and the connection is made inside the box to prevent sparks from being generated at the connection, thus achieving the purpose of safe wiring.
The explosion-proof terminal box is a connection component with strong explosion-proof and sealing performance for circuit laying. It appears as a closed box from the outside. When cables pass through it, they enter and exit and are connected through cable glands, effectively preventing the occurrence of sparks at the connection. Moreover, its outer shell is usually made of aluminum alloy, and in order to enhance its fire resistance and corrosion resistance, its surface is often sprayed with plastic.
The explosion-proof terminal box is composed of several major parts, including the box cover, box body, terminal block, diodes, connecting wires, and connectors. The outer shell should have strong anti-aging and UV resistance capabilities, meeting the requirements for use in harsh outdoor environments; the self-locking function makes the connection method more convenient and firm; the terminal block should be installed firmly and have good weldability with the bus bar.
The explosion-proof terminal box is generally made of cast metal. Its function is to operate in an explosive gas environment. Even if there are electrical sparks inside the box, or some flammable gas penetrates into the box and a small-scale explosion occurs under the action of the sparks, the box can withstand such situations and prevent the sparks caused by short circuits in the wiring box from affecting the dangerous area on site.

- With an explosion-proof type of flameproof grade, it can be safely used in various inflammable and explosive dangerous places. It uses a high-intensity gas discharge lamp as the light source, with high luminous efficiency and long lifespan, and the average service life can reach more than 10,000 hours.
- The transparent part has been optimized in design, and the light is soft, the illumination is uniform, and there is no double image, effectively avoiding eye discomfort and fatigue of workers during operation and construction.
- The outer shell is made of lightweight alloy material and treated with high-tech spraying, which is wear-resistant, anti-corrosive, waterproof, and dustproof, and can be used outdoors for a long time.
- With a delicate structural design, it has good heat dissipation performance, effectively reducing the temperature of the lamp body and improving the service life of the lamp. It has good electromagnetic compatibility and will not cause interference to the surrounding environment.
- It is lightweight, small in size, compact and beautiful, and easy to operate.
Customers who have used explosion-proof terminal box products should know that there are terminal posts inside the explosion-proof terminal box. So, do we need to use terminal posts when wiring? Are terminal posts necessary, and are there any wiring requirements in this regard?
The explosion-proof terminal box is used for the connection of lighting wiring in explosion-proof areas. Some customers will remove the terminal posts inside and not use them. Instead, they directly wrap the connection between cables with insulating tape to ensure insulation. Generally, terminal posts are used for wiring. If terminal posts are used, the key is to tighten them. If insulating tape is used instead of terminal posts, after one winter and one summer, the insulating tape may fall off and cause a short circuit accident.
The explosion-proof terminal box is connected to the power supply, and the wiring steps are as follows:
- Wipe the outside of the terminal box clean and strip the insulation of the cable part.
- Remove the outlet gland, cable bushing, sealing ring, and terminal box cover.
- Put the outlet gland, cable bushing, and sealing ring on the cable, and then connect the power core wire and the grounding core wire of the cable to the terminal post and the grounding screw respectively, and make sure that the exposed part of the wire does not protrude outside the arched washer.
- Install the sealing ring, cable bushing, outlet gland, and terminal box cover.
- During disassembly and assembly, pay attention to protecting the explosion-proof surface from damage.
- There must be a natural droop of the cable between the terminal box and the non-vibrating fixing clip, that is, the length of the cable between the explosion-proof terminal box and the non-vibrating fixing clip should be longer than the linear distance.
- Before installation, check whether the technical parameters marked on the explosion-proof terminal box meet the national explosion-proof standards, and whether the parameters marked on the label are in line with the actual usage situation.
- Before installation, carefully check all the fastening components in the explosion-proof terminal box to see if there are any loose fasteners. If loose fasteners are found, they must be tightened. If they cannot be tightened, suspend the installation of the terminal box.
- When connecting wires and cables, sealing rings and metal washers must be used, and the compression nut should be used to compress them to ensure a tight seal and a firm connection of the cables. For unused connection ports, sealing rings and metal gaskets must be used for blocking.
- When inspecting and repairing the explosion-proof terminal box, the opening at the power source must be inspected first. It is strictly prohibited to perform maintenance when the opening is live.
① Check whether the explosion-proof terminal box is rusted, whether there is an "Ex" explosion-proof mark, and whether all the bolts on the box cover of all explosion-proof terminal boxes are complete. If any are missing, they need to be supplemented.
② Rotate all the bolts on the cover of the explosion-proof terminal box clockwise and counterclockwise to check if they are loose. If loose, tighten them with tools.
③ Check whether there is a metal plug at the reserved wire port of the explosion-proof terminal box of the pipeline leak detector. If there is no plug, a metal plug needs to be installed or insulating sealant putty should be used for temporary blocking. The blocking should be tight without any gaps.
④ Rotate the plug clockwise and counterclockwise by hand to check if it is loose. If loose, tighten it with tools. The factory plastic dust cover cannot be used to replace the metal plug at the reserved wire port.
⑤ Rotate the threaded connections at the protection pipe ports at both ends of all explosion-proof terminal boxes to check if they are loose. If loose, tighten them with tools.
⑥ Check whether the threads at the protection pipe ports at both ends of the explosion-proof terminal box are rust-free, and the effective engagement of the threaded connection should be no less than 6 threads. Power compound or conductive anti-rust grease should be applied on the threads. Do not wrap hemp or insulating tape on the threads or apply other paints.
⑦ Check whether there is an explosion-proof sealing ring at the inlet and outlet of the explosion-proof terminal box cover. If there is none, it needs to be installed, or insulating sealant putty should be used for temporary blocking at the inlet and outlet.
⑧ If there is no metal gasket, a metal gasket needs to be installed or insulating sealant putty should be used for temporary blocking. The blocking should be tight without any gaps.
01 Precautions Before Installation
Before installation, check whether the technical data on the nameplate is consistent with the actual usage situation; check whether all fasteners are loose, and if so, tighten them; the internal and external grounding of the junction box must be good and reliable; when installing, pass the cable through the sealing ring and metal washer, and tighten it with the compression nut to ensure a tight seal and that the cable does not loosen. The unused wiring port should be blocked with a sealing ring and a metal washer; when inspecting and repairing, the power must be turned off before opening the cover.
02 Precautions During Installation
Set up grounding devices both inside and outside the shell, and ensure reliable grounding during installation; the installation site should not exceed the requirements of the instruction manual regarding the applicable site, and the components of the product should not be replaced without authorization; the principle of "open the cover after turning off the power" should be followed; select the appropriate nominal diameter size of the sealing ring according to the diameter of the incoming cable. During on-site use, tighten the clamping nut to make the cable sealed. The outlet that does not introduce the cable should be blocked.
