Motors play an important role in various industrial and commercial fields. Whether in the manufacturing industry, the process industry, or the air conditioning systems of office buildings, they all rely on the stable operation of motors. Among various electrical loads, motors are the single type of equipment with the largest power consumption. The abnormal heating and shutdown of motors will directly affect factory production and may even lead to serious consequences and economic losses. Paying attention to daily operation and maintenance can ensure the safe and reliable operation of motors and control systems and improve the efficiency of factories!
Temperature Detection
During the inspection of Simo motors, temperature is an important indicator reflecting the condition of the motor. When the temperature exceeds the rated temperature, for every 10 degrees Celsius increase in temperature, the service life of the motor will be halved. An infrared thermal imager can quickly, safely, and accurately display the temperature distribution of each part of the motor, helping the inspection personnel to find the overheating spots.
The main reasons for the abnormal temperature of Simo motors are as follows:
Motor overload. When the motor is overloaded, the heat generation exceeds the heat dissipation, resulting in abnormal temperature.
Environmental problems. In case of poor ventilation, high ambient temperature, or direct sunlight, the motor cannot dissipate heat effectively.
Bearing problems. Insufficient lubrication, wear, or damage of the bearings will generate frictional heat.
Power supply problems. Excessively high voltage or unbalanced voltage will cause the motor to overheat. Moreover, unbalanced voltage will lead to unbalanced current, exacerbating the abnormal temperature.
Insulation damage, which may lead to short circuits or electric leakage and generate additional heat.
Improper installation. When the coupling between the motor and the driving equipment is improperly installed, the motor will bear additional mechanical loads, causing the temperature to rise.
Winding damage. The damage of the motor windings, especially short circuits, will lead to a sudden increase in current and abnormal temperature.
Load imbalance, especially the uneven load distribution under the condition of multiple motors, will lead to abnormal temperature rise.
Given the numerous reasons for the abnormal temperature of motors, regular monitoring and maintenance of Simo motors are of great significance. An infrared thermal imager can obtain the surface temperature of a normally operating motor without making contact with the equipment, which not only ensures the safety of personnel but also avoids production losses caused by equipment shutdown.
